Huntress @ Stage 1

Huntress @ Stage 1 (013 Tilburg, The Netherlands)
June 8, 2013

Between playing on the big stages of the Sweden Rock Festival and the Download Festival in the UK, Huntress is doing a number of additional club shows in Europe. The first one was at 013 Poppodium in Tilburg (013 is the dialing code for Tilburg), a big difference in setting compared to Sweden Rock. Of course now they were the headliner, but still. Huntress played at Stage 1, the small but cozy second stage in 013. The nice thing of the venue is that interaction with the audience is easy, because you can almost touch the bands. But it’s not the best for photographers; the lightning is not that good and space to move is limited. And in sync with what was announced as occult metal, the lightning was quite dark with strong colors.

Lana Del Rey Live in Paris

Lana Del Rey Live in Paris
April 27, 2013

I took a break from metal for one night to see Lana Del Rey in concert, and I’m going to deviate from Sonic Cathedral’s core mission to write about it here because I think many other female-fronted metal fans are likely to appreciate her as much as do.

Eths at Lyon - April 2013

Eths - In Concert
April 2013 - Lyon, France

Eths @ Lyon

This was my first time seeing Eths in Lyon. You might have already heard of them -- their former singer was Candice Clot, until she left the band last October to Eths fans' utter despair. Then she was successively replaced by Virginie Goncalves (Kells) and Nelly Wood-Hasselhoff as temporary singers. One month ago, their permanent singer was finally revealed: Rachel Aspe, who's already well-known in France because she took part in the televised France Got Talent.

Kells Live in France

Kells Live in France at the ACDM Fest
April 21, 2013

Kells is one of two French metal bands that I knew before arriving in France last year (the other being Markize). I have since discovered lots more great bands, but these two were on my list to see, so I was happy to get the chance to catch Kells, who come from Lyon and play Paris less often than Markize does. (I’ve already seen Markize twice, with another concert soon.)
