Alright, I must admit…I was a little put off by the name of the band when I first heard about them. It actually wasn’t until a bit later, after reading some very positive comments, that I decided to check them out. I’m glad I did too. Any doubts that I had that were brought about because of my reaction to the band name were put to rest upon hearing their music.

The band describes their selves as metal/rock/gothic, which definitely described them well (though I would definitely say the music is a bit progressive as well). I can’t really think of any similar sounding band actually—except regarding the vocals. Vocalist Alexandra sounds very much like Anneke Van Giersbergen. That’s not to say that Alexandra doesn’t have her own unique vocal timbre, but the resemblance is undeniable. Certainly, it can’t be a bad thing to have a voice that is similar to Anneke’s voice! Musically, the album is very strong as well.—drummer Julien Nicolas does a fabulous job throughout the album in particular. I also loved the Eastern edge some of the songs had!

The song-writing is very nice throughout most of the album. I personally could have done without "A Dose of Life" and "Into the Maze" though. Highlights include "Binary Me", "Tribute to Mrs. Keystone", "Ethereal Drift", "A-Mazing Grace (pt 1 and 2)", "Patterns", and "Them Changes". "Them Changes" in particularly really grabbed me, though the powerful vocals in "Tribute to Mrs. Keystone" certainly grabbed my attention as well.

Intuispection is definitely an enjoyable album to listen to. If you’re into female fronted metal at all, you’ll probably like the album too. Very much recommended.
